That looks like fun yarn. Can't tell for sure but it looks like the yarn may be similar to Sachet or a ribbon type yarn. These yarns usually have a track of small holes on one side that you knit through. They are easy to work with once you get the hang of it. If you need more instruction there are videos on you tube that you can lean from.
