On some you will find a cap on the underside of the mirror arm. if it has one remove it and look inside. If you see a big spring up behind a washer here is how you can try to fix it. If it is still part way together find a large socket or piece of pipe that will go over the center round plastic piece inside the hole we mentioned. The outside of the socket of pipe needs top rest on the washer. next find a good thick washer and a large clamp put washer under pipe install c clamp and push the inside washer back on a little further. and then check the mirror. If you cannot do it that way remove mirror and use a press instead of a c clamp. In our case we did not have either so we used the lower frame of the vehicle and a jack. Tooka couple try's but worked fine afterwards. Just remember you are working with plastic so take it slow.

How do i fix the TPS pedal position sensor in a grand prix pontiac 2004.
They are an area constant chaos. As far as I know the stealership has the only fix.
I am not sure when this change occurs in your car but if the mirror control switch is not set to the center position, both mirrors are programmed to dip when the transmission is put into reverse to assist in backing up visibility( at least on the 2001 model). if above fails call ghostbusters
tape :)
You can fix it by making it stay up with a piece of wood.
They usually don't do that, but if you turn the car off while they're still going, they might get stuck that way. To fix that just turn the car back on. They should go back to the "down" position, then you can turn the car off again.
