Your answer depends on how fast you work, and the type of yarn you use.

The term "standard" could mean different things to different people. Size is not the only factor, however. How much time in a day do you have to spend on crocheting? If you are using a bulky yarn and Q hook it won't take as long to make the same size afghan with sport yarn and a G hook.

If you have a pattern in mind, you might time yourself crocheting one row without interruption. You can get a very rough estimate of how long it will take you to crochet that pattern by multiplying that amount of time by the number of rows.

I would probably triple that time in your final estimate because you will not be crocheting consistently and constantly. You will have to eat, answer the phone, run errands, and whatever else occupies your day. You may not even completed one row without an interruption. But you will get at least a general idea of how much CROCHETING time you need if you have a deadline by which you must complete your project.

Don't forget to allow time for working your edgings, sewing in the tails and, if your project needs to be assembled allow time for that too. The finishing time in some cases can be considerable.

This question is too broad. How long it will take depends on many factors - how large an afghan do you need? How many hours per day do you have available to work? What kind of yarn and hook are you using - a large hook and bulky yarn will take much less time than fingering yarn and a small hook. How fast you crochet is a factor too.

One way to figure this out on a case by case basis would be to decide on your pattern. Work the foundation row first, then time yourself working the second row. Multiply that amount of time by however many rows your pattern requires.

This will only work if the pattern design is fairly simple. If every row is different it would take a different amount of time to work each one. Keep in mind that even if your math tells you that it will take say 40 hours to finish. That would be 40 hours working straight through and before sewing in ends and putting on an edging.

Most people don't sit and crochet all day long, so you need to decide how much time you can spend each day and extrapolate how many days/weeks it will take from that.

Our local knitting/crochet group breaks down blankets into 15" squares. These are very managable. 4 squares put together with a border makes a baby blanket, 6 squares put together with a border makes a lapghan, 15 sqares put together with a border makes a single bed, 30 would make a king size. You can make one square and then extrapolate to see how long it would take to make the size blanket you want. Add a couple of extra hours for sewing and the border..
