The beads in a rosary can be all the same, if that's the way you want to do it.Sometimes the "Our Father" beads are 1mm to 2mm larger.

Either way you decide to do it is correct.

What do you do with a million beads?

There are too many variables to consider: the size/s of the beads; if they are all the same; the shape of the beads; what the beads are made of. For example, if all the beads are 1mm, you'd have 39,730 inches of beads whch is 62.7% of a mile.

When stringing beads must all bead have same size hole?

The only requirement for the size of the holes in your beads is that the holes must be large enough that the string (or wire) that you are using can fit through the holes. Other than that, the holes (or beads) can be any size you like.

When you purchased a home there were rosary beads hanging in a closet Why?

It is not unusual that when people pack up all of their belongings to move out of some address, they forget something. Alternatively, perhaps they thought that you, the new owner of the house, might be in need of rosary beads, although if that's what they thought, that was presumptuous of them.

How to Select an Antique Rosary Necklace?

For centuries it was both fashionable and acceptable to wear a rosary. Oil paintings from the Middle Ages and Renaissance frequently show a rosary prominently worn by men and women. During the past century, wearing a rosary has been acceptable in some cultures, unacceptable in others. Today, it is a personal choice; rosaries worn as necklaces have become popular fashion accessories. Antique rosary necklaces are an excellent addition to a collection of antique jewelry. They can be found in exquisite styles and compelling materials, generally at a fraction of the cost of a comparable antique necklace. Whether for display or wear, an antique rosary is a beautiful combination of religious history, artistry, beadwork, metalsmithing, and an investment. When buying an antique rosary necklace it is important to know the basics of rosary design. Most rosaries have five decades; they have five sets of ten beads separated by four beads with an additional five beads between the rosary center and crucifix for a total of 59 beads. Never buy a rosary that is not complete, no matter how appealing it is if the rosary is an investment. Antique rosaries lacking a bead or two do not retain the same value a complete rosary would. Check the links for wear, replacement, or gaping. Links should be secure and not kink between beads. Quality rosaries have tiny circular links between the wires holding the beads that completely prevent kinking. If the rosary does not fit over the head, a jeweler can easily add a small clasp at the back. Materials are an important consideration, both esthetically and for investment purposes. Sterling rosaries are highly sought after. Antique rosaries prior to the first decade of the 20th century will generally not be marked “sterling” as this was not a requirement. They may have a hallmark indicating silver purity or no mark at all. Solid gold rosaries are very rare and expensive; a good alternative is a gold filled rosary. Avoid gold plating or gilt as it easily wears through. Beads were produced in many materials. Wood, early plastics including celluloid and Bakelite, colored glass, crystal, natural quartz crystal, coral, or amber were all used. An exquisite choice is a natural Mediterranean coral and sterling French rosary from the 19th century. Antique rosary necklaces can be found at estate jewelry shops, antique stores, and online.

How to Find Beautiful Rosaries?

Rosaries, strings of beads used to count prayers, have been around since ancient times. The rosary is best known as a Catholic tradition, but is found in some form in nearly every faith, including Islam, Hinduism and Baha’i. In Catholicism, the rosary is a tool of meditation. While reciting prayers to God and Mary, the mind focuses on certain events in the life and ministry of Jesus. It is not necessary to be Catholic to learn the Rosary and pray it every day. Many people find the rhythm of the prayers and the feel of the beads conducive to a relaxed, clarified state of mind. Some believe that saying the Rosary will eventually lead to world peace. There is no restriction as to size or materials used to construct a rosary. In fact, a rosary doesn’t have to be a string or chain of beads. People have used buttons, stones, or knots tied in a boot lace. Rosary beads can be strung on sturdy cord or looped on chains. Everyone’s preferences are different, so feel free to look for a rosary that fits your hand and feels comfortable. Begin your search for the perfect rosary in local stores. Besides church goods stores, try jewelry stores, bead shops, and hospital gift shops. Tell them what you are looking for and ask if you can handle different rosaries. Do you like gold or silver chain, or cord? Large beads or small, oval, round, or heart shaped, smooth or carved with designs? Wood, glass, crystal, plastic, or stone? Rosaries made of natural materials give you a sense of connection with the earth. Precious stones impart a sense of the glory of heaven, like in the books of Ezekiel and Revelations. Any color that appeals to you or reminds you of holy things is fine. Blue is the color traditionally associated with Mary. The center of the rosary is a small metal plaque which can have an image stamped on. Most rosary centers have a picture of Mary on one side and Jesus on the other, or some devotional image like the Sacred Heart or the Holy Spirit dove. A popular feature for a rosary center is a tiny container with a drop of water from the Holy Land, or from Lourdes, the great healing shrine in France. At the beginning of the rosary -- the short string of five beads -- is a crucifix. You can also find rosaries with plain crosses. The best thing of all is to find some beads you like and make your own rosary. Most bead shops and a lot of church groups give lessons. Make your rosary in a spirit of joy, even fun, and thanksgiving to God. You may find you like making rosaries so much you want to make more and give them as gifts or send them to missions around the world.

How many necklaces will 90 and 108 beads make?

Why do catholics take off their rosary beads and hang them up when they enter their home?

Some catholics may do this but it is something personal to the person doing this. My rosary is in my pocket during the day and it goes under my pillow at night. It is a reminder to me at night that the Lord is with me, watching over me and I can rest in His presence in faith and trust. My rosary is used a lot and I think of it as a special tool for prayers, when someone is very ill, I sometimes give them my rosary because of all the prayers that have been said on it, and it is a comfort to them and a link to the Lord.

Why is there no crucifix on the Anglican rosary?

All Anglican Prayer Beads or Anglican Rosaries contain a cross but some also have a crucifix.A crucifix (from Latin cruci fixus meaning "(one) fixed to a cross") is a three-dimensional cross with a representation of Jesus' body, the "corpus" nailed to the cross.Usually known as the "Anglican rosary," or sometimes "Christian prayer beads," or "ecumenical prayer beads," Anglican prayer beads are a loop of strung beads which Anglicans and other Christians use as a focus for prayer. Anglican prayer beads were developed in the mid-1980s by Episcopalians participating in a study group dealing with methods of prayer.Anglican prayer bead sets consist of thirty-three beads divided into groups. There are four groups of seven beads with additional single beads separating the groups. The number thirty-three signifies the number of years that Christ lived on the Earth, while the number seven signifies wholeness or completion in the faith, the days of creation and the number four signifies the seasons of the Church year.

What does a gift of a rosary mean?

The Rosary is a very common gift among Catholics due to its popularity and reputation. As a gift it is hopefully an expression of friendship, as well as a manifest desire of the giver to augment your devotions, especially should you not have or be praying the Rosary already. Rosaries come in such variety and different materials that it is not uncommon for people to own several - some are made cheaply and best serve as all purpose "all-terrain" beads, some are made of cord and solid beads to be more durable and long-lasting, some are small loops, some quite large, some ornate, some plain, etc., so a gift of another Rosary may mean the person thinks you might appreciate its quality, or construction especially if you are given to going through them fast or possessing one of plastic.
