You may have a bent rim or damaged the tire.
You should find out if you have an interference engine, if your enging is non-interference then there is no way piston can hit valves and if you do have an interference engine doing a compression test may help figure it out, but if one of the readings is slightly low, you may have a valve that just bent a little. The best way to be certain is to remove them from cylinder head and inspect. If you did smack valves you should also replace the valve keepers and retainers, it is a small price for what can cause a serious engine problem in the future. Answer 2: 1. Vehicle history. A broken timing belt, chain, or some other big timing problem will probably bend the valves. 2. A severe overrev. Downshift to Second i nstead of Fourth, or something similar. Valve control is lost at extreme RPM. Otherwise, valves don't just bend themselves. To check, take off the valve cover, and remove the rocker arms or the camshaft. All of the valve spring retainers should sit at the same height. Use a straightedge. An engine with bent valves usually will not run.
It's possible. There are only 2 ways to find out: 1. disassemble the engine and inspect for damage. 2. Put a new timing belt on and see if you have good compression across all cylinders. If you do, you probably didn't cause damage when the timing belt broke. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Put on the timing belt. The car will run fine or really poorly. It will be obvious if you have any bent or stuck valves. Y-THINK-Y
You can only do it without breaking it by applying heat. Hold the wide end of the key with pliers and heat on the stove top then hammer lightly to correct. If it broke, still no problem, just take both pieces and make a duplicate.
run over it with a car...
Depends what part is bent really... But in most cases if the bend is tighter than 160 degress in obtuse angle- then no. Sorry :P
It depends if it is an interference engine or not. If it is an interference engine there will be engine damage. Most likely bent valves or a busted piston. If it is a non-interference engine then nothing will happen except the engine will not run.
You've hit and run over something with the car.
You may have a bent rim or damaged the tire.
no
Yes. A car can run without an exhaust manifold. It will burn out the exhaust valves in the cylinders a lot faster than normal, but it can be done.
If the car is not getting any fuel, it will not run.
Very Carefully! If you don't get the springs exactly how they should be, your car will not run. It is best to take it to a pro if you need any work done on the valves of ANY car, even if it's just an adjustment!
Run a compression test on it, im willing to bet you have bent valves and by having bent valves your not having any pressure to start and if you keep trying to crank it, you could be beating up the top of your cylinder head therfore causing super major problems like a new engine
Probably your timing belt is a tooth off either retarded or advanced. Any more than a tooth, and it won't run at all and possible bent valves. Recheck timing marks and or timing holes that line up with special tools or etc.
The 800cc engines are NOT non interference engines. I recently bought a matiz with a snapped cambelt. After reading online that it was a safe engine I simply reset the timing and fitted a new cambelt. The car seemed to run fine so I thought I was in the clear. 12 miles later one of the valves snapped and killed the engine, lots! I stripped the engine down after I'd removed it from the car and found that 5 out of 6 valves were bent.
I HAVE A 2003 GALANT THAT THE TIMING BELT BROKE ON AND REPLACED. iT HAS NOT RUN THE SAME SINCE THEN. I TALKED WITH AN A.S.E. CERTIFIED MECHANIC WITH 25+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND HE SAID THAT THE VALVES WERE SLIGHTLY BENT. MY CAR WOULD START AFTER THE BELT BROKE, BUT IT HASN'T RUN THE SAME SINCE. NOW I HAVE TO DECIDE WHETHER TO HAVE THE MOTOR RE-WORK, REPLACED OR BUY A NEW CAR. BUT I LOVE MY CAR AND PRIOR TO THAT INSTANCE, IT RAN BEAUTIFULLY. HOPE THIS HELPS.
