Probably because they want them to be mature and stop acting like children. But, hey, I don't see a problem with it (mostly because I never stopped watching them after I hit 13).
People have interests and things they love dear to them. Sometimes it is a sign to tell you to be mature or to grow up out of your childhood, but it's not like you're going to stop watching your favorite cartoon just because you're a teenager.
They just start to get a bit annoying and squeaky and loud. There are no Cartoons specifically for teenagers and the jokes just start to get childish. Many teenagers with a great sense of humour son feel this way.
Watching cartoons is not a childish thing there are even adult comedy cartoons and i still watch The Simpsons. there is no age to stop watching cartoons

as a teacher I observed that from my students.. mainly because they're grown ups and expected to be mature by their parents and peers, doing new stuff such as hanging out learning new things outside, how to interact with other teens and not sitting in front of the TV watching their favorite cartoon show. Well, there's utterly nothing wrong about it and who says it is. It depends on people's peculiar way of finding entertainment and one should not be condemned for doing so.
