It's a fashion statement and some people like it (like tattoos) while others don't. Some younger people will choose to follow what their peers do. It's a phase and they'll grow out of it. Unfortunately, with tattoos this will need surgery if a guy has 'I love Debbie' and he's going or married to Leah. Piercing of ears is OK, but for me at least, I sure don't get the piercing of eyebrows, nostrils, belly button or any other part of the body. However, it doesn't change my views on the young person one bit. I went through fashion phases of my own growing up. == It can also be ones way of expressing themselves spiritually. I personally use my piercings and tattoos as a way to get more in touch with myself. Some people go to church, some do drugs, I get body modifications. It is really all a personal decision and there is no way you can stereotype people with piercings, tattoos or other modifications because everyone will differ in their reasoning. Yes, some people do it to rebel, others still do it to be "different" and still more just do it because it looks cool. However, you will find that there are a lot of people who feel that once the body part has been modified in whatever way they will feel as though it more accurately depicts them. Like I said, there is no one way to define why people get piercings among other things, it is all a matter of personal choice. == It feels good to some people and it is a turn on or an accessory
Well it's all a personal choice some do it for religious reasons or just fashion statements. Or to show there parents there "responsible" enough to do something on their own. Some people think it will boost there appearance and confidence. If you consider getting ANY sort or piercing make sure you go to a professional who use sterile equipment. Beware going to a buisiness interveiw because sometimes it leaves a bad first impression. -Welcome
In my experience it seems to be based upon the observer's self-esteem. For example, when I taught high school, many of my students were pierced or had skin illustrations. The department leader, a shriveled up old hag of a typing teacher would remark "they are disgusting!" -- usually in her daily diatribe about how she hated teen agers.
What I saw was an effort to express oneself as an individual. I don't have a tattoo and I don't' have a piercing, but I asked my self one time "how does 'their' piercing, tattoo, etc, effect me?". The answer, of course, is "it doesn't".
Well of course, everyone views piercing and tattoos differently, including conservative religious groups which prohibit the faithful from having same.
I think it all revolves around how people react to something which is slightly (or greatly) outside of the "normal". If you have two-inch stainless steel disks inserted in your upper and lower lips you will certainly attract attention, even if you are a member of the African Ubangi Tribes. On the other hand, if you have a Prince Albert, well, who's to know?
This is going to be tough, as most countries still view such things as unprofessional. It's going to be a long time before this changes, I'm afraid. The vast majority of people still associate tattoos and piercings with "low class" people, even though many professionals nowadays do have tatts and piercings. The best way for employees to handle it is just to cover up the tattoos and remove the hardware before work or cover the piercings if possible.
It would be best to speak to your doctor about it. The best way to avoid keloids is to not get piercings or tattoos. But if you really want one, consult a doctor first.
No way! It could be very feminine. :)It all depends on who's wearing it and how but who cares what other people think?! :)
The tattoo industry is not much more busy today than it was 10 years ago, it just seems that way due to all the recent media exposure with reality tv shows and also with celebrities being more open about their piercings and tattoos.
he has over 20 tattos. he is so flippin sexy by the way.

People get body piercings and tattoos because the like the look and want to express themselves. Though this has caused alot of stereotypes. Where I live no one will like you if you have a piercing or a tattoo (which sucks for me because I have my eyebrow, 4 on each ear, and 3 tattoos) Body Mods are for people who enjoy art and want to be a living art form. (there are other reasons too just there is no way to say them without them sound stupid though they are very good reasons) Never judge a person by their tattos or their piercings!!!!
Sometimes people can tell what kind of person you are by the way you dress or look. For example, if you had tattoos and piercings people would normally think you're a badass or rebel or break the rules.
Teens get piercings and tattoos for a variety of reasons, including self-expression, individuality, aesthetics, rebellion, cultural or religious significance, peer influence, and as a form of body modification. Here are some common reasons why teens may choose to get piercings or tattoos: Self-expression and individuality: Teens often use piercings and tattoos as a way to express their unique identity and personal style. Aesthetics and fashion: For some teens, piercings and tattoos are simply seen as fashionable or trendy, and they may get them as a way to enhance their appearance or keep up with the latest fashion trends. Rebellion and non-conformity: Getting piercings or tattoos can be a form of rebellion against societal norms or parental rules. For some teens, it's a way to push boundaries, challenge authority, or assert their independence. Its largely just Aesthetics, people think they look sexy. Some are done to increase sexual arousal or pleasure, like say a Prince Albert or a nipple piercing. some are done to increase arousal for their partner, for example, tongue piercings. Really each piercing is done for a different reason that's personal to each individual, in the same way as tattoos.
People who get piercings typically get them because they like the look of them. Although some piercings (like genital piercings) may also serve a purpose. But in general, body modification is done just because people like the way it changes their appearances.
People are gay; piercings are not.If you gotta ask...*IMPROVED ANSWER- The easiest way to tell if your piercing is gay, IS- are you gay??

18 with proper id and no parental conscent needed. With parents and proper ID and possible paperwork should be any age. Tattoos do not work this way though u MUST be over 18 with id for tattoos, piercings can usually be done with conscent
Gerard Way does not have any piercings , as he is afraid of sharp objects and needles. :)
No, He's actually pretty scared of needles. He doesn't have any tattoos or piercings..I'd say he doesn't have any tattoos, but if you watch one of the videos of MCR live in Valencia, you MIGHT see there's a tattoo inside his arm. Anywho, I REALLY hope he doesn't get one EVER .Hope it helped :)
Nose piercings are related to some religions but otherwise, people just like the way that they look.
