Any material containing iron or steel is subject to rusting when exposed to air or moisture. If you pull apart an old fence, you will always find rusted nails in the wood where moisture has rotted them. The modern way is to use galvanised nails or specially coated screws instead. In any hardware store you will see green and brown screws made for outdoor use.

How long do the little fingers nails last?

Well little nails last a lot longer because they don't get chipped very easily and it doesn't hurt as if you had big long nails it would hurt and they would get chipped and then get caught on things then pull your nail then it would really bad. So I suggest little nails unless they are fake then you should have big nails.

Why does coating last longer than iron?

Coating materials are often chosen for their resistance to corrosion and wear, which helps to protect the underlying iron material. Coatings can be designed with specific properties to provide longer-lasting protection compared to iron alone, which is more vulnerable to rust and degradation. Additionally, coatings can be reapplied or repaired more easily than replacing iron components, extending their lifespan.
