Added - another option which works well for some people is a 'graphics tablet (or pad)'. This plugs in like any other peripheral, the pad can be as small as a mouse pad or up to about A3 size. A special pen (usually optical) is used for 'drawing' on the pad. As the pen feels like a normal pen or pencil to use good results can be obtained with some practice. Software can change the 'brush strokes' to look like pencil, ink, brush etc. Much used by architects and other designers. Moderately expensive.
