"Paints are liquids because a liquid is runny so it helps to paint on paper "

Paints are not all liquid, some are solid eg. watercolours etc - they are mostly liquid so they are easier to use, do not solidify easily can be munufactured in large quantities.

Paints are liquids so they can be evenly applied over a surface with varying thicknesses of paint by applying several or few coatings.

To put this in perspective, if paint was as gas, as soon as we open up the can, the paint will escape into the atmosphere and we can't put it on walls.

Also, if the paint were a solid from the get-go, we still couldn't apply it to walls or ceilings because it would not stick.

Thus, paints must be liquids first, and then it dries out on the walls or ceilings to produce a solid, nice colored wall or ceiling.

Why volatile liquids are often used as propellants in aerosol spry cans of such things as paints and deodorants?

Volatile liquids evaporate quickly, creating the pressure needed to propel the product out of the aerosol can. This property allows for easy dispensing and even coverage of the product. Additionally, volatile liquids can be stored under pressure without the need for additional propellant gases.

Is paint dangerous?

Paints can consist of a lot of different substances. There are water/latex-based paints that pretty much has to be drunk by the cup to be "dangerous", then there are solvent based paints that contains benzene and other nasties, where prolonged exposure will lead to brain damage. Some paints contains chemicals designed to prevent mold, some yacht paints contains toxins to stop barnacles and seaweed from growing and these can certainly be dangerous as well. Some epoxy based paints will affect your breathing during/after extended exposure-that's certainly dangerous too. Paint is a dangerous good and is classified under Flammable Liquids. If you read most of the content written in most paint products, they would have a warning regarding the hazards of the product.
