They were David Binney Chapman and George Putnam. George died a few months ago at the age of 92. and was a nice guy that I met several times over the years at the Amelia Earhart Film Festival and Birthday Party, held in the third week of July at Atchison Kansas. I had lunch with him and his wife Marie at their home in Florida in July 2011, that was the last time I saw him.
She was married once to George Palmer Putnam, the publisher- this is confirmed in the movie ( Amelia) Mr. Putnam come across as a sort of Spector-type managerial man, if you know what I mean, but basically good- there are some question. There were rumors of her (Amelia) adopting children but no proof. It is known or suspected some expert forger- or a close relative did pen an Amelia Crank letter which was sent to a prominent Money-Man and Male aviator- no names mentioned in l938-39. This is obviously the work of a crank, but whom?
