It's fairly easy to replace. You will be working underneath the car behind the engine. Disconnect the battery. Jack up the car or put on ramps. The starter is on the lower edge of the back side of the engine. You will need to work around the front stabalizer and the rack and pinion assembly but it's manageable. I recommend removing the wires from the starter once it's unbolted. Just don't let it drop with the wires connected as you may damage the plugs or the wires themselves. Might take you 30-45 min. to replace.

I recently mistook the starter for the alternator when i had to replace my alternator the other day... the starter is right in open view to your left-hand side (facing the car). there should be 2 small hoses going into it and its got 5 or 6 bolts you'll have to take out too. On an SLI the starter is on the back of the engine under the intake manifold. On an LS1 it is on the front. When facing the car it is on the RIGHT hand side It has 2 wires going to it you will need a 5/16 and a 13 mm socket to remove. Then 2 15mm bolts and it's out
Its by the firewall on the backside of the motor. you can see it from under the car. let me know how you got it off.
The starter is located on the back of the enginen under the intake manifold Follow the red canle from the battery It ends at the starter
no the firewall side of the engine under the intake runners. best access is from below
On the engine block, directly in front of the driver. You need to get to it from underneath.
The 1992 Saturn wiper motor is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The wiper motor will be in the center of the firewall.
I think it is under the back seat. My car had a problem and the petrol was cut off and the breakdown bloke said it also affected the crank sensor. I am sure the garage said they did something under the back seat.
The single click, that you hear when the starter switch is operated, is the solenoid making the high tension connection to the starter motor. If the starter motor doesn't turn over, you will need to check both the battery feed to the solenoid and the feed from the solenoid to the starter motor (this is typically a short length of braided cable). I have known this cable to corrode through. If it has, the easiest remedy, is to replace the entire starter motor.
