no a egr valve would not make a dead battery. a bad alternator or maybe a bad connection post to battery would make it die ,
The header manufacturers make a braket that straddles over the front header tube, and will allow you to mount it there. See your local speed shop.
You might check to see if your vehicle has an external voltage regulator. Some voltage regulators are in the alternator, some are not. Another simple solution might be to check your fuse panel for a blown fuse, and make sure all the wires are tight at the connections.
Make sure the alternator is mounted square to the crank pulley and the bolts holding it are the right size. Some bolts have a bigger diameter that the threaded part or there are bushings in the alternator. If the wrong bolt was used or a bushing was not in the hole in the alternator, it will sit at a slight angle and tear up the belt. No reason it should be damaged, but make sure the crank pulley is tight and running straight. If it had a slight wobble that would do it also.
Make sure the retaining bolts are removed. Take a rubber mallet and tap on the alternator to free it from its position.
What would make your speed odometer stop working after putting an alternator on? 2005 Chevy Malibu
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alternator and battery.
Check fuel filter.and air filter then timing make sure tune up is up to date.

No, not an alternator itself. A slipping belt driving the alternator and the water pump could though.
No
heater core leak...or hose to heater core... a manual will help with diagnosis and repair, and a shop manual should be available at the local library in the reference section, make copies of the right pages, good luck...:)
no if your battery light is on and the brake light on then your alternator need to be change
Your alternator may be on it's way out. Places like Autozone will put a machine on it and check it for you for free.........you coudl check to make sure the serpentine belt is tight on the alternator pulley. There's also a possibility the bearings in the alternator are getting dry and starting to get tight and will eventually seize up and then cut your belt when it does. It could be the gauge, but I would get a free check up at your local parts store first.
sounds like the alternator is going bad.
