By all accounts, Jimmy Carter was a tremendous failure as a president.

The economy was bad, he failed to get the hostages out of Iran, he did nothing to stop the fuel crisis. All in all, he is considered one of the worst in history.

However his history will not be forgotten for the good things..

Lets also not forget Carter Did a few other great things... He created the Department of Energy, Department of Education, Strategic Arms Limitations Talks, Brokered the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty, Installed solar panels in the White House., Boycotted the 1980 Olympics. In response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Granted amnesty to Vietnam draft-dodgers, Established diplomatic relations with China, Pushed for comprehensive health care reform. Carter's plan was bigger, better, cheaper and -- right out of the blocks -- had a greater chance of passing in its original form than either Clinton's or Obama's plan, but inertia, timidity, and old-fashioned politics (both Democratic and Republican) ultimately killed it and lets not forget Returned the Panama Canal to Panama. Highest job Creation of any other president however do to the influx of immigrants the jobless rate remained unchanged until Reagan took office and made him look better.
