There are many political parties in India. Some are of National status like the BJP and CONGRESS, LEFT....and many are of Regional status like AIADMK, DMK, RJD, Akali Dal., etc. Everywhere a new party is formed. It can be taken as a drawback for India's Multi- Party system.
As of May 2014, there are 53 Democrats in the US Senate and 45 Republicans. There are also two independents, Bernie Sanders of VT and Angus King of ME, who are not members of either political party. However, they caucus with the Democratic Party, meaning, for purposes of committees and such, they "count as" Democrats.
As of 2013, the Wisconsin state legislature is controlled by the Republican Party and the governor is a Republican, Scott Walker. But historically, Wisconsin has had both Democratic and Republican legislators and members of congress: former Senator Russ Feingold, for example, is a Democrat, and former governor Jim Doyle, who served from 2003 to 2011, is also a Democrat.

In the United States the GOP stands for Grand Old Party. It is the Republican Party founded near the middle of the 19th century. At that time this party was known for its many evangelical members.

The Marxist Party was a tiny Trotskyist political party in the United Kingdom formed as a split from Sheila Torrance's Workers' Revolutionary Party in 1987 by Gerry Healy and supporters including Vanessa and Corin Redgrave. At first, it was also known as the Workers Revolutionary Party.
The Populist Party (also known as the People's party)
The American Party was also known as by the nickname "Know Nothing Party". The nickname came about due to members secrecy in confirming membership in the party. When asked if they belonged, they were instructed to answer, "I know nothing. "
The Republican party is also known as the Grand Ole Party.
This was the name of Jefferson's party. Madison and Monroe were also members. They opposed the Federalists of Adams.
