The Gospels do not say if any hymns were sung. The Jewish tradition for the Seder (the festive meal at the start of Passover) is to sing the Hallel psalms, Psalms 113–118. The Seder ritual today is based on the liturgy of the Haggadah, a text from the second or third century. The MIshnah (in Pesachim 5:7) says that Hallel was sung at the Temple during the sacrificial ritual. We do not know if the tradition of singing Hallel over the festive meal after the sacrifice existed in the time of Jesus, or if this tradition developed only after the destruction of the Temple in the year 70. It is probable that Jesus and his disciples were at least familiar with the then traditional melodies for Hallel.
