Artemis is the goddess of the hunt, the moon, virginity, childbirth, and the wild. She was supposed to drive the moon chariot across the sky, protect maidens, help women in childbirth, punish those who killed more animals than they could eat, send plagues through wicked cities, and kill men who rape women.
