Just about all kinds of math are used in architecture. Geometry is at the heart of design. Shapes and proportions figure into the architect's vision. And proportions lead to algebra. Now fasten your seatbelt. Architecture is all about engineering and the strength of materials. And we test and evaluate and then express the properties of materials based on complex calculations using different mathematics including the calculus. It's nice to visualize and draw up structures in which people can live and work. Real creative energy is required to do that. But without a rock solid base in mathematics up through calculus, those drawings will just be shapes on paper, or little cardboard and wood models. They'll never be realized in the real world. Without mathematics, we won't be seeing them against any skyline or backdrop of any sort. We won't be living and working inside them.
