When you wake in the morning, before you move, take the pulse and see what it is at your most natural state. You will be entirely rested and you should be unaffected by food/drink.
If however you experience unusual symptoms like palpitations or periods of rapid pulse rates where you feel pain or dizzyness or are light headed then you should visit your doctor or if you feel awful, call an ambulance.
