"Vestal Sprite" is a cultural adaptation of the Japanese mythological spirit "Zashiki Warashi". As the Japanese spirit is a hearth spirit bringing good luck to the home and are generally considered childish and innocent, a fan translator drew from Roman mythology's hearth goddess Vesta for a similar feel in a western adaptation. While recently Zashiki Warashi has crept into Japanese culture fans vernacular, understanding the full meaning of the word is still obscure. Vestal Sprite, in drawing from imagery familiar to many westerners, is far more decipherable, possibly even using imagery already known.
