You combine (by swiping) 2's to make 4's, 4' to make 8's and 8's to make 16s... and so on.
The goal is to either get a high score or to make it to the number 2048 using the method described above before the board completely fills with numbers.
In addition, each swipe may combine some numbers, but it wil also always generate one new number, usually 1,2,4,and 8, as far as I've seen.
