The heart is made up of 4 chambers. Each side has an atrium and a ventricle.

The right atria collects de-oxygenated blood from two major veins in the body; this blood is then pumped into the right ventricle, where it is then ejected into the pulmonary arteries, where is goes to the lungs to collect oxygen.

Upon returning to the heart, the blood enters the left atrium; it is then pumped into the left ventricle, where it is then ejected into the aorta and distributed throughout the body.
