People can get arthritis at any age. There are many different forms of Arthritis some of which are the result of an inherent physical disorder. some forms of arthritis are the result of wear and tear on the joints yet others happen because of injury such as broken bones.

There are also forms of arthritis that come with age, and cause a generalized pain and inflammation in joints all over the body.

There are many different types of arthritis, and as such, there is no one reason as to why you may get it.

Some forms of arthritis, such as Osteoarthritis are just down to body wear and tear - over time, the cartilage starts to wear away, causing stiffness and pain.

Others, such as RA are autoimmune- in other words, your body's own defense systems are attacking the cartilage, and tissues around the bones, causing significant and often disabilitating damage.

In all, there is no-one reason for arthritis - its a common misconception that its a disease that only affects older people, however, as a 20 year old arthritis sufferer, I can honestly say this is not the case!!

The simple answer is you can get arthritis in any joint of your body. Osteoarthritis is the main form of arthritis. It is caused by wear and tear or trauma to a joint or joints. Because of this knees and hips which are major weight bearing joints are affected the most but it can effect any joint in the body.

Autoimmune diseases tend to affect many joints.

Arthritis affects not only the joints but also the muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments that support them.

If you have arthritis at a young age what will your future hold?

Can a thirteen year-old get arthritis?

While osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is more likely to occur after age 35 it can happen as a result of traumasooner, Juvenile arthritis can occur in in children all the way down to baby's. JRA is an autoimmune disease that attacks the joints. In even younger patients who are sexually active, it can be associated with an sexually-transmitted infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Patients with gonorrhea may also experience problems such as diffuse skin lesions. Another disease featuring arthritis and skin lesions is Henoch-Schönlein purpura. Gastrointestinal discomfort and other symptoms are also associated with this disease. These are just a few of the reasons that younger patients may experience arthritis. There are many more!

Do you have arthritis?

Are your joints always hurting? Does your blood sugar glucose go down easier? Do your joints sometimes get inflammed and bruise without even hurting it? If these symptoms don't go away in about a month or two, you should get tested for arthritis. It will also depend on what type of arthritis you have. They will probably do a blood test and then an x ray of the joints that hurt. The most common is idiopathic arthritis, which nobody is sure of why it happens or caused. The second most common is rhumetoid arthritis. This is found in children and young teens mostly(Juvenile Rhumetoid arthritis (JRA), but also adults. This is different because unlike idiopathic, rhumetoid arthritis is caused by the immune system fighting off tissue that make the joints swell and hurt ALOT!!!

What age group gets arthritis?

I dont know how old this question is, but I decided to answer it anyways. Arthritis can affect a person at any age, usually it is older people who have this problem, but you can also be born with it. I have a friend who is 21, and she's had it her whole life, being born with it caused her to have bent joints, and very small bones. She also has smaller features, because of this. She takes many meds, and has appointments every year to check her well-being. :)
