the valve at the entrance to the pulmonary trunk from the right ventricle; it consists of semilunar cusps (valvules), which are usually arranged in the adult in right anterior, left anterior, and posterior positions; however, they are named in accordance with their embryonic derivation; thus the posteriorly located cusp is designated as the left cusp, the right anteriorly located cusp is designated the right cusp, and the left anteriorly positioned cusp is called the anterior cusp whereas a tricuspid valve is the valve closing the orifice between the right atrium and right ventricle of the heart; its three cusps are called anterior, posterior, and septal.

A lot of sources will say there is no difference (including wikipedia) but this is not stricly true. There is only one pulmonary trunk but there are two pulmonary arteries. The great vessel that leaves the heart at the right ventricle is rightfully called the pulmonary trunk not the pulmonary artery. Theis large vessels soon splits into two other large vessels, the left and right pulmonary arteries, which carry blood to each of the lungs.

The tricuspid valve is between the right atrium and ventricle. The pulmonary semilunar valve is where the blood flows out of the right ventricle, into the pulmonary circuit. The tricuspid has 3 flaps on it and also has chordae tendineae which attach to papillary muscles. These "chords" help prevent hold the valve in place. The pulmonary semilunar valve does not have these.

Why human heart does not has bicuspid valve instead of tricuspid valve?

The human heart has both Tricuspid and a Bicuspid Valve. The Bicuspid Valve is more commonly know as the Aortic Valve. All that bicuspid means is that there are only 2 leaflets in the valve instead of the normal three leaflets that would be found in the tricuspid valve or the mitral valve.

Where in the heart are the bicuspid and tricuspid valves located?

The bicuspid and tricuspid valves are located between the atria and the ventricles. The bicuspid or mitral valve is on the left, and the tricuspid is on the right.

Bicuspid and tricuspid valves open in what direction?

The bicuspid (mitral) valve and tricuspid valve open in a direction that allows blood to flow from the atria to the ventricles.

Atrioventricular valve in the left ventricle called the bicuspid valve?

What two atrioventricular valves control the flow of the blood?

The mitral or bicuspid valve and the tricuspid valve are the atrioventricular valves that control the flow of blood from the atria to the ventricles. The bicuspid is on the left side of the heart, and the tricuspid on the right.
