This information can be found in your owner's manual. Don't have one get one. Try Dealer, Salvage Yard, E-Bay, or do a Google search. Many sites sell owner's manuals.
Check to see if any of the codes came back. Typically, if something is wrong that caused a code, it won't go away until the problem is resolved. Connect a code scanner to see what it can detect.

there is no reset on the brake pads, you can check your brake pads sensors they will make the light come on
Which lights are you trying to turn off? Check Engine, Service, ABS......

If you are referring to the Malfunction Indicator Light (yellow engine shaped light) the simplest way is to disconnect the negative battery post for 20 minutes or so. If the light comes on again during vehicle operation then the cause of the fault has not been corrected.

Assuming you want to clear/reset the check engine light, if you have successfully made repairs to correct what was the cause of the check engine light to go on the light will clear itself after a few drive cycles.
had same problem w/ my "03. go to dealer and there was an update for it and he "flashed" the computer with their handscanner and it updated the problem from GM w/software fix. light was gone
