LAN mode is unlocked by having 2 gamecubes connected via the Gamecube LAN adapter. These are difficult to find and will need to be obtained online via ebay or possibly still through Nintendo's online store (last seen by me for $35 new).
Once you have 2 gamecubes, both with a copy of MK:DD and a LAN adapter, you will need to hook them up using a cross over cable. If you have more than 2 gamecubes you will need a networking hub and have them hooked up using standard ethernet cables (you could use this for just 2 gamecubes as well, but I have only used a cross over cable to link them directly).
From here when you turn on both systems you will see the LAN option. While it is neat to see a mode that very few people have probably ever actually played, it is actually not that great considering the effort required. Characters are assigned randomly each race which is kind of strange and there is no stat tracking. If you have 8 people that all want to play double dash though it could be fun.

You can play battle mode only if you have 2 or more players playing the game, if you have only 2 players make sure you pick that both players are not with each other then just choose battle mode.
By modes do you mean cups/stages. And be more specific, like Mario Kart Wii, or Mario Kart DS, I mean, details........:/ I cannot help you if you aren't more specific
Mario Kart Double Dash is the fourth game of the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart as well as all Mario games are developed by Nintendo. Mario Kart Double Dash is produced for the GameCube system.
No.
Petey Piranha's (and King Boo's) special item in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is randomly the special item of any other character.
Mario kart double dash is 1.2 gig so that means it is roughly 1300megabytes. Here is the math...... 1 kb = 1024 b 1mb = 1024 kb 1gb = 1024 mb
