Lee-Enfield (a British bolt action .303 rifle) was named after Paris Scot Lee, designer of the weapon's mechanism and Enfield being the original manufacturer for example. the German STG 44, or Sturmgewehr (Storm rifle) was issued in 1944, and was labeled such because it was a groundbreaking assault weapon (one of if not the first assault rifles in the world)
