How does science affect religion?
It can cause religious beliefs to be re-examined and re-interpreted. Most mainstream denominations no longer believe in the literal interpretation of the Book of Genesis, and believe phenomena described in the Bible and other books were simply the way the authors understood such phenomena at the time. The six days of Creation are no longer believed to be six 24-hour periods, but may refer to eras, epochs, eons or other long periods of time. "The Earth was without form, and void" can be interpreted to mean "The Earth became without form, and void." Faith no longer presumes to dabble in hard science, for the most part. The Great Flood may not have covered the whole planet, but obliterated the world known to the ancients. (Most cultures have their own Flood stories.)A few sects and independent churches still take the Creation and Flood stories literally, but they are few and far between, and appear to be on their way out. Most no longer see a large clash, between faith and science. Each has their own place.---------------------------------------------------------------------------It counter effects religeon in every way possible.....like Christianity beleives That god took 7 days to make the entire universerse and the earth science has more proof that a mass of energy imploded on itself and chreated everything in seconds and then the earth came later...and then there are beliefs that a god every morning takes his chariot and drags out the sun to birng out the morning light and the same for night but science says that due to earths revolution that takes just a little above 25 hours to face the sun and our moon that's is also impossible._____________________________________________________________________All the above is not referring to the Islam Holly Book Quraan that is absolutely different.None of scientific discoveries, inventions, or facts that were concluded after the revelation of Quraan caused any conflict with Quraan statements. The opposite is what happened. Those scientific discoveries, inventions, and facts are continually proving that this Quraan is a revelation from God and that it includes scientific miracles that was only able to proved by the state of art of knowledge and science. In this regard, it may be referred to the sayings that follow made by Dr. Maurice Bucaille,an eminent medical scientist and a member of the French Academy of Medicine. He is the author of the book entitled "The Bible, The Quran and Science.""The Quran contains infinitely more precise details [than many scientific discoveries today] which are directly related to facts discovered by modern science: these are what exercise a magnetic attraction for today's scientists."It is not faith in Islam that first guided my steps, but simple research for the truth. [What led me to this conviction was the fact that it would be unthinkable] for a man of Muhammad's time to have been the author of such statements on account of the state of knowledge in his days."
