The fuel pump is a mechanical unit. Depending on the engine its probably on the drivers side, and has a filter canister on the bottom of it. These filters are known to stop up, and the pump may be bad.

Such a broad question. Here are some things to consider- 1.) Fuel supply; Is it getting fuel from the fuel pump? Is it fresh fuel? Is the fuel filter clogged? Manually move the throttle lever looking down the barrels of the carb to see of the accelerator pump is supplying fuel. Clean, adjust, or rebuild carb if needed. 2.) Spark; Check condition of cap, rotor, & points gap. Replace if corroded. Make sure spark plug wires are in good condition and connected in proper firing order. Check for loose or broken spark plugs. Check spark plugs for proper gap. Check the ignition system for incoming voltage to coil. Check for spark from coil and at spark plug(s). 3.) Mechanical issue; Low or dead battery resulting in starter motor not turning or engaging. Starter motor or starter solonoid failure. Ignition switch issue. Check ignition timing. Distributor out of time (if removed and replaced) from cam gear. Some internal engine issue like stuck or bent valves.

Plug wire, distributor cap, or rotor is defective....

You may need to set/replace the Ignition Breaker Points and the Condensor,

1964-1973 Ford still used ignition points and condensors in several models including the mustangs...
