You can use a network sniffing tool like Fiddler2 orWireshark .

Fiddler is a Web Debugging Proxy which logs all HTTP(S) traffic between your computer and the internet. Google Earth uses the system proxy settings of Internet Explorer so you also capture its HTTP traffic.

Wireshark is a network protocol analyzer for Unix and Windows. This is for more advanced users.

What is the relationship of Google Earth and networking?

Like a web browser Google Earth is an Internet application that is designed for use on a network to fetch vast amounts of map and street data from Google Earth servers. The backend Google Earth servers must serve tens of thousands of queries per second per datacenter with low latency. In order for Google Earth to scale to many millions of users with many terabytes of imagery data it heavily utilizes clever networking and local caching to fetch only what the user needs. You'll notice that as you zoom in and out various layers (e.g. roads, labels, etc.) become visible or disappear which is one way to try to load enough detail without overloading the network or the end-user's computer.
