The Star Trek emblem is called aStarfleet Insignia.

There are different styles/variations, e.g.

# 24th Century Starfleet Command emblem

# 29th Century Starfleet emblem # Starfleet Academy emblem # Academy Red Squad emblem

# United Earth Space Probe Agency (UESPA) emblem # Starfleet Command emblem, etc

There are variations in style/color for the different Star Trek Divisions, e.g. Engineering Division, Science and Medical Division, etc.

THEY ARE ALL called emblems, or logos, or icons, or badges, which all mean the same thing.

THE FAMILIAR delta/deltoid shape that appears on later Star Trek emblems has given rise to those emblems being called Delta emblems, but as the delta shape appears on a number of different emblems, the term Delta emblem is unsuffient to identify a particular badge/emblem. THE STAR TREK EMBLEM (seen on the chest comms as well as the Starfleet logo itself) seen in TNG, Voyager and DS9 is based on the ToS's Enterpise, as back in Kirk's time, each Starship had a different emblem, and Kirk (out of all the Starfleet Captains of the era) had the fewest crew casualties and the most successful missions, so to honor the Enterprise, Starfleet adopted the Enterprise's emblem to represent ALL of Starfleet. AND. OF COURSE, we musn't forget to mention the Star Trek Klingon emblems, and the Star Trek Romulan Star Empire emblem, and ... . . . . . . * For examples of various Star Trek emblems, see Related linksbelow this box.
