I doubt it can kill you. Rock Salt is with a lot of impurities. Thats why it isn't sold at the market a lot. But I suggest not to eat it due to how filthy the taste is (I have never tried it, but I know that Rock Salt has a very bad taste.) But the answer to your question is Yes it can be consumed. (Because it can help your minerals be active, In some good way but I suggest not to consume it due to plenty of Halite.) So yes if you choose to eat it you will have plenty of Halite through your body. (Which is ok because it can help your minerals, but it can still damage some parts of your body if you have a certain disease though.) But if you don't eat it that will totally be okay nothing wrong with that.
That might just be popcorn!
In Rochester, NY, the gypsum and salt deposits were made in the Cenozoic sedimentation period.
Halite is found near Salt Lake City, Utah and Searles Lake in California.

Pure salt is obtained from rock salt through a process called evaporation. Rock salt contains impurities and other minerals that are removed when the salt is dissolved in water and then evaporated, leaving behind pure salt crystals. This process helps to separate the salt from any impurities present in the rock salt.
You can eat rock salt but it is in a crude form. It won't hurt you and is generally used to make ice cream and to melt ice on sidewalks.
You can eat table salt or use rock salt on roads to melt snow and ice in the winter.
