Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) checked himself in 1890 into an asylum in Auvers-sur-Oise, north of Paris. While I don't know its name, it was here that he began treatment with Dr. Paul Gachet, who became (like many people van Gogh encountered) the subject of many van Gogh art paintings.
