The pros of animal rights are that humans will generate empathy towards animals, which should (according to psychological theories) allow humans to become more empathetic towards each other. Other pros include: Animals will not be exploited for food production, and have to endure pain and suffering on factory farms (or all farms, for that matter). Animals will not endure torturous tests in the laboratory. -This will lead to newer testing methods of products using newer technology, which will create safer products in our homes and in our hospitals. Animals will not be raised and abused for fur or leather. Animals will not be forced to live their lives for the sole purpose of entertainment, and be forced to perform daily with little or no actual care.

  • Some animal rights activist are extremist, they will vandalize, bomb, and use controversial tactics.
  • Some assume that cruelty is happening to the animal with misleading information.
  • Some animal right group will do protests for publicity rather than helping animals.

Animal rights is a con. It humanizes animals. Animals are blissfully ignorant. No animal is concerned about it's rights. An animal is equipped with the senses it needs to react in it's environment. As humans, we can both hold ourselves above animals, and interact with animals. It is important that we approach it this way. Our forefathers did. All of our beautiful creatures deserve our respect, and need our care. There is no room for foolish sentiments. As our people have become more urbanized, our notions about animals have become largely misguided. If an over-abundance of deer is present, eat some. If a coyote goes after your dog, shoot it. It's common sense.

Animal testing is used to help find cures and treatments for common human ailments and diseases. So the banning of animal testing should increase human suffering. This is a "pro" if you believe human suffering is a good thing.

Doctors practice medical procedures on animals before the practice on people. New techniques are often first performed on a handful of animals. Without animal testing, doctors would be forced to practice on people. We could probably find some poor people willing to be tested. This would help reduce poverty, either if they died or were handsomely paid for their participation. Another "pro."
