NO, animal testing is cruel and almost useless. It really irks me when people say we need animal testing. There's a more humane way of testing then what they do now. Here's a few facts!
Animals used in testing are most usually purchased from specialized breeding facilities. However, they may also be taken from the wild or acquired from animal shelters (through a practice known as pound seizure.
Because mice and rats are excluded from the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), the actual number of animals used in product testing is unreported and unknown. It has been estimated that as many as 100 million mice are used in U.S. laboratories every year
There can be an end to it but it requires us to stand up and stop listening to those who are standing up FOR medical testing on animals. Read up!
The Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM) is not doing its job. In its 10 years of existence, ICCVAM has approved only one non-animal test method that originated in the U.S. This is not because there are no non-animal test methods. ICCVAM's European counterpart has approved more than 20 non-animal test methods. A recent landmark report by the National Academy of Sciences, our government's chief advisory body on science issues, entitled "Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century" called for the use of more efficient non-animal test methods for testing dangerous substances: "Recent advances in systems Biology, testing in cells and tissues, and related scientific fields offer the potential to fundamentally change the way chemicals are tested for risks they may pose to humans. The new approach would generate more-relevant data to evaluate risks people face, expand the number of chemicals that could be scrutinized, and reduce the time, money, and animals involved in testing."
Only WE can bring about this change guys, only WE can MAKE A DIFFERENCE but we have to join together
Animal testing can be a good thing because, just think, if they didn't test your favorite perfume on an animal, it could've given you skin cancer. Don't get me wrong, I know it's cruel and mistreating on the animal's part, but we have the animals to thank for cancer treatments and burn meds.
There is never a cut and dry answer to a question like this. However, I would love to share my opinion with you. I believe it is wrong to test cosmetics on animals. There is no reason that innocent animals should suffer so that women can feel pretty. And the way they test is very cruel. I have found pictures of monkeys where they had mascara showed into their eyes and then their eyelids sewn shut. Clearly, this is BAD.
However, if you are asking whether or not animal testing for medical reasons is good or bad, the answer is different. Its hard for me to say that people are worth more than animals, because it is not my place to say. However, medical research on animals saves millions of lives. And not only that, but they treat the animals as best as possible. They give them pain killers and try not to let them suffer.
Your question can really only be answered on an individual level, as it is not based purely on fact but on ethics and morals. However, I feel once research is conducted on how the animals are treated and what the purpose is of the animal testing, then you can reach an informed decision.
well if the testing is from animal haters the animal will die but if they are good it will live......
There are quite a few good thesis statements for pro animal testing viewpoints. One thesis statement is 'Animal Testing Helps Improve Quality of Life in Humans'.
WHats a good thesis statement against animal testing
is the testing really worth it
Inside a Playboy
animal testing is good and bad. its good to help solve serious diseases and bad because it makes animals suffer in pain.
I guess not. It might kill the animal.
no it ain't good because it could be harmful
u find out things about them
The only way that any animal testing is "good" is because if it is safe on the animal, then it is generally safe on the person. This makes products for people safe to use. You have to weigh this up with the need though. Is it always needed to torture hundreds of animals for your makeup? This is why some people choose only to support medical animal testing, or no animal testing at all.
Without animal testing, humans would have a greater risk of dying if expirementing with products that people have no idea whether it is harmful or harmless. Personally I don't agree with animal testing, but what other choice do we have?
