Domestic animals valued as pets are the least practical of animals labelled 'important' by humans, their only value being that they stimulate oxytocin production in the brain. Livestock and dairy animals are crucial, since they provide food for most of the human population.
A cactus is not important to most animals, but it is important to animals that depend on it for food or shelter. For example, the tortoise, deer, rabbits, and even some humans even cacti( cactus) and the Gila woodpecker uses cacti, that's big enough, for it's home.
