Euthanasia (which means good death) is a method used to prevent the unwarranted suffering of animals that cannot be returned to an acceptable
quality of living, when the expense of salvaging an animal through medical
means is not affordable, and often when an animal has shown aggression and is deemed intractable.
Humane euthanasia of humans is also legal in some countries.
Euthanasia can be acheived using many methods, chemical (pentabarbital), asphyxia (suffocation), mechanical (dead bolt or bullet) are basic examples.
In the United States, there is no such thing as legal euthanization.

Only if it's neccesary. Sometimes it's to get the animal out of it's misery, but when pounds use it to get rid of unwanted animals most people think it's wrong.
Go to a vet first. If it's disease is painful to the point of euthanization, then a vet might have a shot or gas for your hamster. But euthanization is the LAST CHOICE. If you don't need to, don't. I can't stress that enough.

If you refer to deadly drugs such as weed or crack most likely not during the Holocaust but if you are referring to cyanide and other euthanization drugs then heck ya.
Well, euthnization is the best thing to do for animals who are in much pain or are to too old but why many people hate euthanization is because of overpopulation many "could have been great cats" were put to sleep because of a shelters money and that there is just too many of them. Out of the cats that people loose only 10% are returned, the other 90% of them are either caught, euthanized or have become strays. Because of idiot people who don't spay and neuter and let their cats roam free millions of kittens and cats are put to sleep because of overpoplation.
Legally? Yes. Morally? Heavily debated upon; I say no, if someone has a terminal illness and in a great deal of pain then they should be able to receive a mercy kill.
Affenpinschers normally cost at 800-1,500. So please diligently search animal shelters to prevent euthanization of at least one of these wonderful dogs.
