The big one is their jaw suspension. its alot to look at but just Google like hyostylic jaw suspension. basicly the jaw is suspended from the cranium by a hyomandibular arch. the "Bones" that make it up are homologous with less primitive fishes as well as our, human, inner ear.

What is the difference between morphological divergence and homologous structure?

Morphological divergence refers to how different species evolve distinct physical characteristics over time. Homologous structures are similar traits found in different species due to a common ancestor. In essence, morphological divergence can lead to differences in body structures, while homologous structures show similarities in body parts across species.

What should you look for when considering whether structures from two kinds are homologous?

When considering whether structures from two kinds are homologous, look for similarities in structure, function, and evolutionary history. Homologous structures are found in different species but have a common ancestor, so they may have different functions but share a common structural design due to shared ancestry. Evolutionary relationships, embryonic development, and genetic similarities can also provide evidence for homology.

Body parts in two different animals that are similar in structure are said to be?

Homologous structures. These structures suggest a common evolutionary ancestry between the two animals, indicating that they have descended from a shared ancestor. Examples include the pentadactyl limb found in many vertebrates, including humans, cats, and whales, illustrating their evolutionary relationship.

What is a Homologouse structure?

In the diploid cell nucleus there are homologous chromosomes. During meiosis homologous chromosomes pair each other and bring about crossing over to inter change genetic material. This is how new combination of genes are created in the male and female gametes.

What is a homologous sturcture?

Homologous structures are the same body parts found in different species that look different and do different things that are also made of the same thing ex. the human forearm and the wing of a bird are composed of the same bones however have a completely different appearance and function.

Where are homologous pairs of chromosomes not normally found in?

Homologous pairs of chromosomes are not normally found in gametes, which are reproductive cells such as eggs and sperm. This is because gametes are haploid, meaning they only contain one set of chromosomes, while homologous pairs consist of two sets of matching chromosomes.

What are sharks biomes?

Sharks biomes are ocean biomes. A biome is the habitat that something would be found in. In this case talking about sharks, the biome is the ocean since that is the habitat that sharks are found in.

What is homologouse structure?

A homologous structure is a structure found in two very different animals that has a similar form in both animals. For example, the bones of a human hand are homologous to the bones in a bat's wing or a whale's flipper. Structures that appear very similar suggest that two animal may be related, as in humans, bats, and whales, which are all mammals.
