HABIT is something quite stubborn. You cut the head, A BIT of it still remains. You cut the abdomen, BIT of it is still there. You cut the back, IT is still there. You can't give up any old habits. You have to replace it. If you have been smoking, you've to replace with not smoking. Your smoking is your old habit. And your not smoking is a new habit that should replace your old habit. It all depends on you. You are the maker of your own destiny. Your life is your choice. If old habits are killing you, escape from them. Live with your new habits.

Habits can be important because they prevent forgetting details or help keep you safe. A simple one would be most people's habit to lock the door when they leave home or to lock it behind them when they return home, or to put your keys in a regular, specific place so you'll always be able to find them. I have developed the habit when turning to leave the kitchen, to deliberately look to see if the 'on' light for the stove is not lit so I don't leave something to burn or worse an unattended hot burner. Most habits are developed unconsciously and you're not aware of them until they are habits; the people around you usually notice your habit before you do. Other habits can be developed on purpose, like a place to always put your keys. Your list could include anything that makes your life simpler or safer; each person has their own set of needs and pitfalls. I went to this length to illustrate that habits do have a role in our lives that can be a benefit. Habits don't necessarily have to be bad habits or annoying habits.
