If you are referring to the Greek goddess Metis, then some people would say that Athena is the daughter of Metis. When Zeus found out that Metis was pregnant with his child, he swallowed Metis in order to prevent the child to be born and grow up to overthrow him. After swallowing Metis, Zeus began to have headaches until Hephaestus hit him on the head, and Zeus' head cracked opened. From his head came Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war.

Was Athena born a woman or a baby?

Athena was a daughter of Metis, and sprang from Zeus's head, fully formed and fully armed. Q. Why did she spring from Zeus - he being male? A. Because Zeus had eaten her mother Metis, to forestall a prophecy that Metis would bear children more powerful than their father! Some of the stories say that Athena was a parthenogenous daughter of Metis, that is, born without the usual requirement of male input, which is why her temple at Athens was called the Parthenon.
