Medusa didn't actually hate people, she hated men. She was raped by Poseidon, god of sea, that was seen by Athena. Athena hated Medusa for it even though it was not her fault, but she still got cursed by Athena. That's why Medusa hates men, because she got turned ugly, turns people to stone with her eyes and got raped by a man. If I was Medusa, I would also hate men.
Athena didn't like the Trojans because of a contest between her, Aphrodite, and Hera. Paris, a prince of Troy, had to pick the most beautiful out of the three goddesses and he picked Aphrodite. This caused Athena to hold a grudge against the Trojans.
Poseidon and Athena both wanted the city of Athens for their own. Each gave a gift to the city. Posiedon gave it the sea, and therefore added it to his kingdom. However, Athena planted an olive tree. Zeus ruled that Athena gave the better gift and therefore got Athens.
