The stamp act happened because the British Parliament decided it would be an effective way to raise money. They would use the stamp act to level direct taxes on the American Citizens.

The colonists reacted to the quartering by protesting, threatening to kill the king, killing some of the soldiers, refusing to house the soldiers, feed them and give them their clothing and bedding.
They thought they would accept it becuase they loved their tea. They drank it all the time, so why would they give up something they loved so much because they had to pay a little extra? They were wrong. That is what started the Boston Tea Party.
Some colonists were infuriated. Others accepted this act, and let the British soldiers stay in their houses.
