There were two Annapolis conventions. The first occurred between 1774 and 1776, which served as a form of state government prior to the revolution. The second convention occurred in 1786, which was to discuss the constitution and its weaknesses after the revolution.
George Washington was voted in as the chairman of the Constitutional convention. He became unhappy with the position because of the arguments between large and small populated states or northern free states and southern slave states. He also had to stay quiet or neutral with any remarks so he would not be accused of using his position to sway the vote on any contorversy. Thank goodness for Roger Sherman of Connecticut who came up with the Great Compromise. Three major compromises allowed the constitutional convention to conclude to the ratification process. "Father of the U.S. Contitution was a young delegate from Virginia named James Madison, who later will be voted in as the fourth President of the United States.

The Annapolis convention was held in a proposal to recreating the U.S. Government, as the Articles of Confederation were not working out. Unfortunately.... very few senators from very few states arrived, so, they reschedualed in Philadelphia in what is known to be the CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION.
In 1786, Virginians called a convention in Annapolis to discuss problems with trade and the protectionist policies each state had enacted. As a result of the Annapolis Convention, it was established that the federal government can regulate trade between the states.
The Annapolis Convention resulted in a request for a larger convention where all states would send delegates authorized to examine broad issues. This led to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
The Constitutional Convention took place between the dates of May 25th and September 17th, 1797. Its location was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is a cornerstone of the US Constitution.
