In "Australia and The United states" Because it was in essence a fair set of rules that made it very hard for politicians to tamper with without the peoples approval. And it is in the interest of the people and business to protect the status quo that has been built around it.

It was a much better type of government than the Articles of Confederation.
Because they have been changing it as time goes on. So they are always changing the constitution that is why is has lived for so long

The original constitution has not lasted through all these years but the basic idea has. The writers of the constitution were smart enough to see that technological advancements and other socail and economical things would change over time. Because of this they created the amendment process which is in the 5th article of the constitution. These amendments, or changes to the constitution, are what have allowed the rest of the constitution to remain the same and still govern the way our country is run today.
