The Boston Tea Party was in 1773. Colonists in Boston ruined three shiploads of British tea by dumping it into the harbor because they didn't want to pay taxes on it. They weren't patriots, they were protesters. The Declaration of Independence was still 3 years from being written, and the U.S. wasn't a nation yet.
On this day in 1773, in Boston Harbor, a group of Massachusetts colonists - some thinly disguised as Mohawk Indians - boarded three British merchant vessels and, over the course of the next three hours, dumped 342 chests of tea into the water. The midnight raid, which has gone down in history as the "Boston Tea Party," was mounted to protest the Tea Act of 1773. The bill had been enacted by the British Parliament with the aim of saving the faltering East India Co. by lowering tea taxes and granting the firm a virtual monopoly on the American tea trade. Many colonists viewed the Tea Act as another example of tax tyranny imposed from London. The raid proved to be a key event in the unfolding of the American Revolution. In 1774, Parliament, outraged by the destruction of British property, enacted the Coercive Acts, also known as the Intolerable Acts. They closed Boston to merchant shipping, established formal British military rule in Massachusetts, made British officials immune to criminal prosecution in America and required colonists to quarter British troops.
Samuel Adams had 12 siblings but only 2 made it to adulthood. he also signed the declaration of indepenence, organized the Boston tea party, and put a stop to the stamp act. He attended Harvard college at the age of 13 and graduated in 1740. He got his masters degree in 1743. there are many more facts but theese are just a couple.
Well, to start it all off the French and Indian war was really the first event that occurred that lead up to the revolutionary war. The war lasted for nine years 1754-1763, the British ended up winning the war and they won the right to keep Canada and several possessions in the new world. Following that was the sugar act and the stamp act. The sugar act taxed sugars coffee, indigo, and certain kinds of wine. It banned importation of rum and French wines. The people that it affected were very vocal about these decisions they did not like it at all and they did not hesitate to say so. The stamp act caused a riot. Every newspaper, pamphlet, and other public and legal document had to have a Stamp, or British seal, on it. And with no doubts the seals cost money and the people were furious they thought it was not fair for them to have to start paying for something they have gotten for free for years. Following that around the 1770's was the Boston massacre. It was not really the kind of massacre you would think of it was a shooting of five American colonist but British troops. Only one of them was killed but the others were wounded. The guy who was killed was named Crispus Attacks. British said that the colonists were throwing rocks and other weapons of the such. The British had guns and they decided to go with a open fire. In 1773 the Boston tea part occurred. American colonists referring themselves the Sons of Liberty, boarded three British ships the Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver and dumped 342 whole crates of British tea into Boston harbor. In the next few months the same type of thing occurred in places such as Maryland, New York, and New Jersey. Eventually people stopped buying tea throughout the colonies. The reasoning for this was because they were angry and frustrated about a new tax on tea. I am doing this for a school project and i would like someone else to help me or tell me if i got it all . thanks.
