A vice-presidential candidate must have the same qualifications as the President, because he may become President.
the U.S. Constitution
They are based on the confidence of the President
beaing human and not dead
The qualifications were put into place by the founding fathers when they wrote the Constitution and have not changed. I think they did not want to eliminate anybody who might be a good President. The voters add their own qualifications when they vote and there is a grueling campaign that tends to expose any weaknesses in a candidate. I wonder what qualifications you would like to add.
The same as president.
I'm guessing that you must first be a citizen, have the right qualifications, have knowledge of the task and responsibilities you will have to take on, be a good understanding leader who has listens to what your people want and what will benefit and furthermore bring peace to society.

You are appointed by the President
The minimum qualifications are set by the US Constitution. The major parties and the voters decide the final qualifications.
The Constitution sets the qualifications for President. They are listed in Article II, Section 1, Clause 5.
