there is no such thing as a one party system, this is what we refer to as a dictatorship.
By dominant party system is meant a party system where more than one party exists and freely competes but one party gets much higher support than any other party. The opposition parties are weak and divided. For example in India the Congress party enjoyed unbroken spell of power forabout 30 years i.e. from 1947 to 1977. After remaining in opposition forless than three years it again emerged as the dominant party in 1980. It lost its power again in 1989. Hence, we can say that dominant party system may not be a continuous or permanent one.
our two-party system! yes sir! my teacher told me the answer lol
Americans prefer this system because when the United States was founded, the two party system naturally occured because of seperation of beliefs and more importantly, law. Election laws require there to be one party, so that one party will not dominate the election. Hope that answers your question. -Samuel Farnham

Democracy is a system where all the citizens get a vote, and things are decided that way. "Citizens" may be a distinct category from "the population", such as in slave societies, or societies where the vote is restricted to certain classes. The merits are that it keeps the many from being ruled by the few. The demerits are that the few are then ruled by the many. It has been truly said that a lynch mob is democracy in it's purest state. 99 men are voting for the hanging, one man is voting against the hanging. The "ayes" have it.
