Please look at the inscription on the front of the coin. You'll find he was the 17th president of the US, serving the remaining part of Abraham Lincoln's second term (1865-1869) following his assassination.

Remember, these coins are part of the Presidential Dollar series, so everyone depicted on them is a former US President.

Yes, there is.

In the year 2007, the mint started issuing New Presidential Dollars in Gold Plated to commemorate the presidents we have.

They issued four a year.

2007: George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison

2008: James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren

2009: William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, James Knox Polk, Zachary Taylor

2010: Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln

2011: ANDREW JOHNSON, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford Birchard Hayes, James Abram Garfield

PLEASE NOTE: The PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS are NOT gold or gold plated, all are made from manganese-brass, the US Mint has never issued a gold plated coin.
