Montesquieu however changed them into legislative, executive, and judicial. These were then put into the American Constitutions framing process. Also, Thomas Jefferson, one of the main writters of the American Declaration of Independence said Locke was one of "the three greatest men that have ever lived, without any exception". Locke's view's greatly influenced Thomas Jefferson's political outlook, therefore he technically helped write the Declaration of Independence.
