To "fit" without significant alterations, you can use a 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.1L, 3.3L, 3.4L, 3.8L GM car engine. With minor alterations you can also fit in a 2.2L, 2.4L, 2.5L, 3.5L V6 (not inline 6), or 4.0L, 4.1L, 4.2L, 4.5L, 4.6L, 4.9L, or 5.3L GM car engine.
Making an engine other than that originally used may require some alterations to the electronic control systems.
